good idea, i'll try my best to ellucidate!
Kravynn: originally the children of noctus, they are supposed to be peaceful and helpful. some time during the age of death, some of them were turned to madness and began hurting people and themselves. then a few years ago in the age of order, the kravynn prophet appeared, attempting to bring all kravynn back to the original teachings of their father (noctus). the tradesmen of evermoore decided this was a good thing and in return for a small favor, they gave them a tomb of lore, in which were rituals such as healing ground and raising ground. only a small percentage of the current kravynn are actually mad and hostile. problem is that they make all kravynn feared. with the deception last november, it's quite possible that although they aren't hostile, they won't come to us for help.
Blood God: Malaki (did i spell that right?), the Blood God, is simply a crazy mother fscker. that's it, plain at simple. he's powerful, he's bloodthirsty and he's a sociopath. that's it. we didn't provoke him, he simply wants everyone dead.
Blood Guard: the Order of the Blood Guard with their red cross on a black field (or is it the other way around?), are an order formed in the Holt. their tenets are basically those of nazi germany: we are the one true race, everyone else must bow. so naturally, and rightly, we don't like them.
Shavakans: the heart eaters. hokay, ummm, these guys think that eating the hearts of tradesmen will make them stronger. and as such, they kill tradesmen and eat their hearts... i think that's enough reason to not like them.
Nexus/Shaggothes: well, yeah, we could have allied ourselves with them, but i actually prefer driving them from our lands. they come from a planet far away. the nexi eat anf grow until eventually the entirety of the planet's resources are consumed. i think that's a good reason to not let one in (or to feed it, ie, Church of Cultivation).
Servantor/Taranti: a race from a planet far away. a highly technological race with a vast empire, spanning the plane. we decided some time ago, after obtaining a planar bomb, to blow up their home planet. which we did!and it was totally hardcore. and totally pissed them off summin' pow'rful fierce. i'm actually a little surprised they havent invaded ALREADY.
Orc Empire: well, they are led by Gorfang, a cruel and selfish orc. he wields the Scepter of Rule, an artifact which is not only powerful, buts grants him the right to rule all the orcs. when the tradesmen gained possession of the scepter, it was obvious that they could not keep it, for only an orc could wield it and the wielder was considered to be the emperor. although this sounds like a great idea, one must keep in mind that any orc may challenge for possession of the scepter and thusly, rule o the nation. that means that we would have one tradesman in town at market days who would effectively be a ruler of a nation (possibly putting him higher than the other tradesmen, something which we aren't allowed to do). not only that but random orcs would be coming into town OFTEN and with mallice. their intent to kill the owner of the scepter and become the new emperor. neat, huh? anyway, our choices were to give it to orc leader A (who was friendly with us) or to give it to orc leader B (who was hostile towards us). both of them were going to give it to gorfang. we decided to give it to orc leader B, our logic being that we would keep the orc leader A on our side and also make orc leader B friendly towards us. what ended up happening was that both didn't like us now, and we had lost our allies within the orcs. now, it's simply a cold war, neither of us wanting to hit first as that will bring down the full weight of either the orcish empire or guild hall.
Karthidian followers of Thanos (red robes): they were the red to symbolize the fire and blood of the coming age. they believe that the age of chaos is here and that karthis is already orchestrating it. the ancient mummy cleric, Thanos, is the leader of this sect. he is powerful and he is old. he resides in a massive obsidian tower in the middle of the Karthidian Desert. but, as he wants to start the "help" along the age of chaos, i think we're right to try and stop him, don't you?
Karthidian followers of Altar Shariz (black robes): they were the black of karthis. they believe that the age of chaos, although it is coming, has not yet set it. originally, they were our best allies but due to a certain unpleasentness during our guildmasters' meeting last november, they're a bit wary, to say the least. while they are not outright hostile, i'm certain Altar won't be back any time soon. Altar Shariz is currently leading the brunt of his followers in battle against Thanos. he has laid seige to the obsidian tower. this will most likely be the end of at least one of them.
Commoners: well, this is a little unspecific. many commoners are indeed PO'ed with us but that is to be expected. well, this is a debate for a different thread. lots are pissed, lots are not being helped. lots of them simply cant understand that we're doing things for their own good.
Sir Numous followers: scottagain said it correctly, it's not the followers of Sir Numous which are bad but a certain sect of them, namely those of Bordeaux. he has beefs with us becuase he's a crazy druid who thinks the inn should be torn down. why does he think this, one might ask? well, that would be because we didn't ask the trees we used for their permission to use them.
Comedy of the Damned: well, jesus what the fsck. some crazed master rank tradesmen decide one day that the only true absurdity is in attaining a limit. they have reached the end of their capability and as such decide to amuse themselves in other ways. these ways usually mean harassing tradesmen (read: killing them). there is no negotiating for surrender here, it's either kill them or be stabbed in the kidneys.
The Oberon: well, simply put, to them, women are property. they have no more rights than their sheep or goats. besides the obvious moral objection most of our town feels towards this, it is simply against our guildhall law. slavery, indentured servitude, or forced servitude are illegal. so remember, if you ever go out on the trail and find a woman who doesnt seem entirely brainwashed, find out if you are still within 50 miles of the inn. if so, it is fully in your rights and duties as tradesmen of evermoore to free the woman. oh, and lets not forget the fact that the Oberons were taking plains people captive with the intent to take them back to their own towns as slaves.
Xanadu: not really a problem with them or the god. simply a god which was created to destroy all the new-fangled gods which were sprouting up. now chained up on Noctus's rack of eternal torture (they are totally BDSM freaks... that is so hot... [/joke]), she doesn't really pose an actual threat to anyone (atleast that i know of).
But let's look on the bright side. just recently, we gained favor with the queen of the dale by helping her to receive payment for a massive shipment of grain. quite possibly, the month after next, we might be able to get our charter back. and if all goes well, not only will we be able to recover the information we need from (whatever his name is, i forget the name), but we will be able to find the guardians of the sky and have them lead us to the realm spire. it's not likely but it's a chance.

wow thats really good, and thanks you just told me a bunch of things that i didn't even know. Blood Guard: the Order of the Blood Guard with their red cross on a black field (or is it the other way around?), are an order formed in the Holt. their tenets are basically those of nazi germany: we are the one true race, everyone else must bow. so naturally, and rightly, we don't like them. But let's look on the bright side. just recently, we gained favor with the queen of the dale by helping her to receive payment for a massive shipment of grain. just to ask some questions/clear some stuff up. also didn't the Blood Guard at one point attack the inn or something like that along time ago that made the town (especially Highlanders) hate Holts for a little bit? the commoners reference was based on the fact that too many of them don't know whats going on and any evil sect (refering to anyone that doesn't like us) can contort their minds within a month or two, thus pitting them against us. also i've only seen once (Nov i think) when commoners where happy with guildhall coming into town with their "Save us from the Nexus" signs. just in general we need to treat them better, and i'm all for the commoner education program. and i thought all Sir Numous followers were aginst guildhall. i knew that Beardou was the main baddy against us, but i thought all of them did not like the inn up because of the fact that we cut down trees to raise it. finally Xanadu was actually directed towards the more pagan followers (Go Morrigan). the Way of the Five followers have nothing to worry about but i believe that their is a new Xanadu sect opening and it wishes to destroy all "non-believers" was is that about the grain? was that this past month? damn you SATs and snow....

well, the beginnings of the Orc/Dalelands Grain debacle occured in december with the letter which let us know that not only would the orc empire not attack us as long as we held authority as an inn under guildhall (titter, titter), but also that they would stop stealing grain from commoners within the area as they could far more easily obtain it from the dale. the queen of the dale offered to sell an amount of grain (i don't know the exact amount) to the orc empire for an amount of silver (nor do i know this amount). supposedly, it was a fantastic deal and the contract was made. this past event, the orcs attempted to whelch on the deal. we made sure they paid up.

And I'm supposed to be the historian here... Well, thanks for clearing those things up for everyone. At least now we have a general idea of what's going on in the realm.

heh, no worries, historians are supposed to collect these sorts of things from other historians. the point isn't where you get the information, as much as you retain it.

as I probably know more about this story than anyone, I'll fix the minor errors (that most people also seem to misunderstand.)
The religion of Surnumous (he was not a cavalier, it is not Sir Numous) belives that there will be a second age of nature and works to bring that age about. Part of the church's doctarin states that followers should not initiate hostility and nature should be asked before it be used for anything. To this end, all followers of Surnumous dislike the inn as a building, the trees were not asked before being used. This is where the schism begins.
Surmumous followers try to keep out of the inn whenever possible. However, any of the tradesmen of that religion understand that the inn is the center of commerce and is a necissary building. Their goal is to have the inn taken down and a new one built, made of trees who want to be part of this structure devoted to Guildhall.
Bordaux followers also dislike the inn. The difference is that Bordaux followers want to destroy the inn and let the chips fall where they may. Furthermore, they see attacking the town not as initiating hostility, but rather retaliation (which is allowed by the church) for old grevances. Old grevances being any time the town attacked an animal when it was not necissary.

Hi Guys .. as the holder of one or two of these plot lines, let me fill you in a bit: good idea, i'll try my best to ellucidate! Blood Guard: the Order of the Blood Guard with their red cross on a black field (or is it the other way around?), are an order formed in the Holt. their tenets are basically those of nazi germany: we are the one true race, everyone else must bow. so naturally, and rightly, we don't like them. The Order of the Blood and Tears of Elden (commonly referred to as the Blood Guard) was formed by the Baron Malys Von Echt at the request of Prince Justin of Holt and the High Cleric of the Church of Eldin in Holt, Cardinal Morden. The original goal was to hep cleanse the land of the lower races (anyone not Holt). The Order spent years attacking various locations in the Highlands in order to stir up trouble and give the Kingdom of Holt the chance to invade the Highlands to secure the region. Guildhall has ordered the Order to stand down. They have been removed from the list of Knightly Orders and are considered enemies of Guildhall. Rumor has it that the King has ordered them to stand down and remove their tabards, but Malys has not seen these orders. He is searching for a copy of them. He is currently rebuilding a fortress in the Wild Highlands. This is to be the final staging area for his forces before they attack Inverness once more. He has ordered the Master Artisan, Ansell to secure the lands, materials and labor by any means necessary. This means that they will be forcing commoners off the lands again, stealing ore and other materials, and forcing slave labor to rebuild this fortress. The Church of Surnumus and Order of Surnumus was founded on the patient waiting for the second Age of Nature. As was mentioned earlier, there is no ill feelings towards Guildhall or the tradesmen at Evermoore. There is no call for a "jihad" or holy war against the tradesmen for the deaths of beasts in the wild. There is, however, restitution expected for these deaths. Sir Phillip formed the Order after he witnessed several tradesmen being less than honorable. He and his cousin, Robert Brown came to the town several years ago asking what they could do in order to sway the tradesmen way of thinking. Orion McBride and Sir Peter both suggested since both men were arcane, even though they were advanced in years (meaning over 25), that they should apprentice. Make the change from inside. So, Sir Phillip apprenticed to the Cavaliers Guild and Robert Brown apprenticed to the Runecasters Guild. Robert Brown has been around the town several times. Trino even helped him after an altercation with Godfrey Little (aka Griz). Sir Phillip has been to Evermoore one time since, and no one talked to him about the differences, so no one knows. Saying all that, Master Ranger Godfrey Little arrived in Evermoore two summers ago looking to impress Bordeaux Chauncey. He brought with him Wizard females and a Druid. They were going to show Bordeaux that Godfrey (aka Griz) was a better choice to lead Bordeaux's army than Master Ranger Hunter Wolfe (Bordeaux's childhood friend). They were going to throw the town of Evermoore into a panic. Griz walked into town, introduced himself to everyone, made friends, and even taught lore to several tradesmen. Then, late in the night, Griz walked out on the trails with several brave members of the Lotus. He even "assisted" them on the trail. Then, he ambushed their leader, Cloud'ku MacDougal, and the entire party was wiped out. Luckily, the town heard, and a force from Evermoore came out to the Forlornes to rescue these tradesmen. Griz let the town know it was HE that was responsible and promised them that would return to finish the job and then destroy the Inn. The town ambushed Griz and the girls with an overwhelming force, captured Griz and spirited him. They sent him out to tell Bordeaux that he had failed. Instead, Bordeaux rewarded the young Weetle with the position that he desired. General of the Army. Griz convinced Sir Phillip that it would be a good idea for the Order to work with Bordeaux, and Griz was inducted. Bordeaux was naturally inducted and made High Cleric. Sir Phillip thought that this would be a wise choice, and he stood with Griz, Hunter and Bordeaux against the town. The town once again defeated these men, spiriting Hunter Wolfe, killing Sir Phillip and spiriting Bordeaux and after this battle, felt that for the good of the Realm, they must Obliterate Bordeaux. They took Sir Phillip and Bordeaux back to the town. As they were performing the Ritual, Griz rounded up as many animals as he could and attempted to destroy the inn and disrupt the ritual. Only the quick thinking of Hashem with a Hold Portal Spell was able to stop them as they were destroying the door. Griz watched in tears as they town successfully obliterated his mentor, his master, his friend, and his God. Griz vowed revenge on Evermoore, left the remaining animals to deal with the town and went back into the Forlornes to plan his revenge. Rumor has it, some in the town heard him yell as he crossed the bridge, that he would be back and he would return the favor. He would spirit the town. Sir Phillip has no idea what the plans of Griz are. Griz has lost his mind and is planning something against the tradesmen. No one know what.

The only things I can think of off the top of my head for me...the easiest would be two of the Tyranti soldiers, and Three very angry Oberons back on November.... I really dont feel like rambling, but to make a long story short, when I find out that Oberons are in the area, I duck and cover.
I still dont get the whole Oberon Finishing School deal though...
