/me It's late and I need to write something, here we go:
Karm sat down and rested on the branch he had come to thus far. He had been climbing all day, but this tree just didn't seem to end. He looked down and saw a blanket of green below him, the ground hidden by the canopy. He looked up, but not much was different.
"If I decide to go back down now, I'll never know how close to the top I am." He said, "But if I keep climbing, I may not have enough strength to get back down if it keeps going." He weighed the situation in his mind and looked up again. His mind was set and he reached for the branch above him.
The elders had said that The Tree provided us with everything we need. Air, water, and abundant fruit. Karm always wanted to climb the tree, but it took him so long to find a way past the sentinals. His reasoning was "If it provides us with everything, than it provided me with a good climb!" He thought this as he rose higher and higher, until he finally saw the sunlight filtering through the leaves, and blue! Glorious blue! He sat down on the top branch and looked around. When suddenly a voice startled him.
"Ohh. A visitor! Who art thou?" A bird that looked like a combination of a crow and a parrot.
"My name is Karm, Mr. Bird." Karm said.
"Very good! Thou mayest call me Ban of the North" Ban said. "What dost thou seek in these branches?" He said with a turn of his head, his beady eyes staring into Karm's.
"I search for nothing but the sky above and the ground below, and a little connection between them."
"It would appear that thou has fufilled thy quest. Why dost thou linger here?"
"Curious Bird. I stay here because I want to look around, and see what I have brought to myself with my dedication. I may have not created it, but I have risen to see it."
Him and the bird sat looking across the vast landscape. Karm finally spoke. "And what is your business here?"
"All birds fly. And all birds must rest. Mine arms do seek a rest they well deserve."
"Well, I must be going now." Karm turned to start climbing down the tree.
"Wait!" The bird said. "Thou cannot leave!"
"And why not?" Karm said.
"Because, thou art not allowed to! Thou must cometh with me!" The Bird said.
"That's nonsense! I will climb down away from you, bird." Karm said.
The bird simply shook it's head. "Thou wilst only go so far. For thy spirit after death must ascend to the beyond with me!"
"You must be mistaken!" Karm said.
"Thou realizes not the fact that thou art not a part of this world? That Thou are spirit? Thine connection to the heavens from earth is found. And thou has risen quite well to see it!"
The next morning, the sentinals were quite suprised that the body of a boy was found fallen next to the tree. And they would increase their watch.
/me That was fun. Perhaps I'll write more here soon.
/me I know it may have been a little short, or you may not get it, but remind yourself, I wrote this as I went, when I began, I had no idea what would happen to Karm, All I really knew was that he was in a tree, and everything grew around that. Even if it did have a few problems.
