Throught my lifetime I have always sought out patterns in our lives and in nature. Nature has patterns, the 4 seasons, the fractal used in every tree, and even ripples in a pool. I discovered that every other year has horrible movies, and every other year has good ones. This year is the year for good movies, and my hopes were high, but as with nature, there are just some variables I did not see and unfortunatly what I did see was "The Grudge".
Do not get me wrong, there were some good parts in the movie, but there were much more bad parts as well. If you organized the movie into three different bins: "Suspsense", "Shock", and "talking". This would be basically how it worked out.
Talking: 15% of the movie. Shock: 20% of the movie. Suspense: 65% of the movie.
That's completely accurate to the best of my knowledge. Most of the movie was someone walking directly into the maw of the evil grudge-holding ghosts, all while strings are playing sour and off chords. Oh, and there was a bell.
If you really want to see this movie, feel free, it's not an abomination, but it has moments where you can't help but laugh at the rediculousness of it all.
Final Judgement: Worth the money if your with several friends. We had so much fun making jokes during the movie. 3/5

BAH, I SAY TO YOU, BAH. the rest of the marauder associates and i went to see "the grudge" when it came out and i can safely say that i peed liz's pants. on a similar note, some one also crapped in mine (we have yet to find the culprit). there are moments that it does just simply make the brain babies kick, however the suspensful/scary moments do indeed make for a quality horror movie.
now, i have a major fear of the undead/supernatural so i may have simply gone in more sensitive to the subject material, HOWEVER, although some would never admit it, the skeptics in the group all got startled at moments (/me thinks back to kori jumping at the yoko in the attic scene).

Hmm... this seems like a little dispute over a movie I have no intention of seeing, with or not with friends. Sounds like an amusing time though. I want to see Sarah Michelle Gellar of course, but is it really worth seeing the creepy little girl with the mouth open? I don't know anymore... try and persuade me, or something. Because we all know it's boring without conflict.

anyone with any interest in horror movies can find value in this movie. while it i true that most of the scare from the movie is built out of suspense, it always delivers. some of the scenes were out right "oh jesus christ, it's right farkin' there". like the bed scene.... she was on base... i was to gods, she was farkin' on base...

OH there were some really good parts, I have to admit. The video with the eyes, that was really good. But there were some parts where we thought "What were they thinking?"

all i can say in response, without saying anything that would spoil parts of the movie for anyone who hasnt seen it, is this:
like with the cop and the "wow, now some one is thinking- oh crap where's HE going- you already know what that sound is"?
