Capcom once again proves to most otaku gamers that they do not have what it takes to drive a mech.
Sporting it's own 40+ button controller, (2 joysticks, and more buttons that you can shake a stick at.) Steel Battalion is one hell of a game to play. When playing, you have to start the mech itself, from closing the hatch to making sure your fuel lines are running properly. It's amazing because most games with currently existing weaponry don't have this much simulation.
When playing this game, do not expect these mechs to move fast, at all. In fact, the only time you can even move quickly is when dodging things, and that tends to take out alot of your fuel very quickly. (It's realistic folks, did you really think gundams could actually go that long without a refuel? Hell, these babies can't even make 190 miles without a refuel!) Speaking of the refuel, you actually have to use a radio to call in your commands. This would have been rediculous if you had to use the microphone, but unfortunatly, you have to press buttons corrisponding to what you want.
These things are realistic, in the sense that the technology for the mechs is not that developed (in-game the mech-tech has only been around for 8 years.) so these babies can actually tip over if you running (at 60 MPH no less) and turn really quickly.
If you can get it, I would highly suggest Steel Battalion to buy, although it may be rare nowadays.
(System: Xbox |Players: 1| Cost at release: $200+| Cost now: $???|Rating out of 5: 4 1/2)
