Captains Log: The Sea Serpent
This will be my last entry. Today I will be setting out for a new way, a new ship, a new life. My name is no longer going to be Captain Marshal Ghrey, from this day forward, I will be known as Donavan Murphy. My ship has been destroyed by a violent storm after a bomb fell upon for what I could tell was the Elder Trees Valley. I saw the bomb fall from the sky, and with a flash of light, I knew nothing good would happen from here on in.
During the storm, many of my crew were cast overboard and the rest, I can’t say. The ship’s doctor said that many of the injured weren’t going to make it, simply because there were so many of them and so few supplies. We struck land late one evening in the middle of a squall. The main mast tore from the hull like a twig, the destruction wrought upon my ship was uncanny.
While on deck, I recall being struck in the back of the head and rendered unconscious.
I awoke about 200 yards inland from a beach. I followed a trail of debris to the coast where I found what remained of my ship. Searching the wreckage, I found no survivors; however, I was unable to account for the full crew among the dead. I’m leaving this log with the ship so that in case any survivors should happen upon the wreckage, than they can know what has become of their captain.
I gave my crew members a final farewell, and a proper burial, with the help of a few locals who had fared the storm.
From the locals I had found out enough information to give me a quest. I learned of a place known as Evermoore, a land to the west that I would be able to reach by foot after a few weeks journey. Also I heard rumors of a pirate known as Rain. A pirate, that I had met once before.
It was at a drinking contest, in the small coast town of Stone Harbor. I had drunk every opponent under the table right up until Rain. Rain and I made a deal before going shot for shot, bet all of out current winnings on the man who was favored to lose, and with the underdog bet paying 12 to 1, we were going be set for quite some time. The odds were in my favor to win, with a larger build, and more tolerance, I was shore to win, or at least that’s what the bookies thought. After 25 shots I gave Rain a nod, and down I went. I woke up in a room with my share of the winnings in my boot where I told Rain to leave it.
Knowing that I would be able to trust Rain, I set out to find him, and my journey to Evermoore begins.
