Somebody answer me this question. Can you put poisons on throwing weapons. Some say yes some say no. If we can all my javilins will have poison on them. But if we can why can't we have poison tip arrows instead of buying venom arrows. Please someone help a confused low elf who hopes to have fast death javilins one day.

I'm pretty sure you can put poisons on a bladed throwing weapon, only problem is the weapon can be knocked out of the air and the poison is wasted.

it cant get knocked out of the way... its a ranged weapon... they take damage if anything hits it... so its poisoned or it dodges

but than vito's question still remains, why do you have to pay 5 silver for a venom arrow, when you could just coat it with poision instead? and at the last inverness as an NPC i was poisoned with a thrown weapon.

Spoke to Fred and he said you can't poison a throwing weapon, also Rebecca, throwing weapons are different from projectile weapons, I'm pretty sure you can whack them out of the air unlike arrows.

yep thrown weapons can either be caught (using the knowledge 'Catch'), blocked with a shield, or knocked out of the way with a melee weapon. (spores, like the kind mushrooms use can not be caught). arrows can only be blocked with a shield.
wait does the Throw Proof rit. work on spores?

I just read my handbook about throw proof and it says it works against spores.

Hmm... advantages and disadvantages to adding poisons to any throwing weapon...
Advantages:
1. If you can aim, most likely they don't have throw proof 2. very easy to hit someone from afar with a poison and watch crazy things commence. (EXAMPLE: Blood Lust the guy in the back of a huge crowd of people...)
Disadvantages:
1. if you cant aim, your majorly beat 2. throw proof 3. dodge or anything that stops the attack, even catch 4. As SOON as you throw it the poison has 1 shot, even if you fumble, or something happens, as soon as that weapon leaves your hand, the poison is gone if you miss. 5. very easy to fumble with a throwing weapon
only reason I did it, was because I went through the entire event with 3 throwing weapons being my weapons.
and I have an alternate way of poisoning now, so i'll be fine.
Do I think the advantages are better then the disadvantages? Depends on what you think, I personally think using throwing weapons in general is fun, so either way it's all up to you.
and the last time I checked, poisons can work on throwing weapons, I did all of this in front of Tony, just rub the poison on the weapon for a full minute and it's coated, just like a normal weapon.
but either way, It's most likely in the book if anyone wants to check, I don't have a book.

Just remember, you CAN NOT catch spores...or else they still affect you

I just checked the books, you're right Ted. Poisons can be added to throwing weapons ONLY IF it's a bladed throwing weapon, like an axe or a dagger.

wtf. than what is the point of venom arrows.
plus for venom arrows (i know they need to be made induvidually) but can you coat a full quiver (20 venom arrows-if you can afford all of thme) with only one poison card? that is the only way i see it ever being worth geting venom arrows.
also bloodlust costs 3 silver for 1 dose (2 components plus the poison card) so i doubt one person could get an arsonal of it. if not for money issues, than for components. plus armor stops poison, as does hide, god i love my armor.
also (this is my take on it) if you were to nock the thrown weapon with your sword the poison should be gone (as normaly when wiped on a sword the first hit, be it sword or person, the poison is gone) even if it goes on to hit someone else (like a bounce/rickochea)
also i heard a rummor, about being able to parry a thrown weapon. is this true/and if it is wouldn't it negate the poison?

Venom arrows.... I have no clue. I think arrows are harder to avoid then throwing things and they still affect you if it hits your weapon.
If the sword whack the throwing weapons, the poison is gone and doesn't affect anyone.
As for parrying throwing weapons I'm not sure. The book doesn't say you can but at the same time it doesn't say you can't. It says you can't parry spores or throwing vials, so I guess you can parry a javelin or throwing axe.... I donno
